Louisiana becomes first SBC team to seven wins; will face ODU on Thursday
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana scored twice in a four-minute span early in the second half Sunday, rallying from a one-goal deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina 3-2 and become the first team in the Sun Belt Conference to reach seven victories.

Miku Kurihara converted a penalty kick in the 66th minute to pull the Ragin' Cajuns even, and Carson Glenn scored less than three minutes later to give Louisiana the lead for good at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.

The Ragin' Cajuns, playing their 500th career match in program history, improved to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0 in Sun Belt play. Coastal Carolina, which gave up five goals in its first nine matches, fell to 6-3-1 and 0-1.

Louisiana trailed 2-1 at halftime after Coastal Carolina scored twice in an 18-minute span following an early Ragin' Cajuns goal.

Maiya Clark put Louisiana in front in the 11th minute with her second goal of the season, finishing a cross from Kurihara and Glenn. Coastal Carolina answered in the 21st minute when Olivia Lawrence scored on an unassisted goal from 15 yards.

Camryn McKee then put the Chanticleers ahead in the 29th minute, collecting a corner kick from Kemden Pierce and scoring from 10 yards.

Louisiana came out aggressively after halftime, outshooting Coastal Carolina 9-4 in the second half.

Kurihara tied the match at 2 in the 66th minute, converting her fourth penalty kick after Coastal Carolina was called for a foul in the box.

Glenn completed the comeback in the 69th minute with her second game-winning goal of the season. Clark delivered a crossing pass from the right side of the 18-yard box to Glenn, who finished from 12 yards into the lower right corner.

Coastal Carolina had several opportunities to equalize late, but Louisiana goalkeeper Natalie Mayes made two saves in the final 15 minutes, including a stop on Pierce with just over a minute remaining.

Mayes finished with four saves and earned the victory, improving to 5-1-1 on the season. Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Aris Lamanna, who entered the match with a league-leading 0.56 goals against average, made three saves.

Louisiana finished with a 13-10 advantage in shots and put six shots on goal. Kurihara led the Ragin' Cajuns with six shots, including three on target.

Kurihara's goal was her SBC-leading ninth of the season, while Glenn's game-winning goal was her sixth – and fifth in the past three matches.

The Ragin' Cajuns return to action on Thursday when it travels to Norfolk, Va., to face Old Dominion in a 5 p.m., CT contest. The match will be available on ESPN+.
