Cajuns, Monarchs Battle To Scoreless Draw in Norfolk

Mayes extends program record for shutouts to 14; Cajuns to host Troy on Sunday
NORFOLK, Va. – Louisiana and Old Dominion battled to a scoreless draw Thursday evening at the ODU Soccer Complex, as the Ragin' Cajuns extended their unbeaten streak in Sun Belt Conference play to two matches.
The 67th tie in program history marked the 16th scoreless draw for Louisiana (7-2-2, 1-0-1 SBC). The Ragin' Cajuns outshot the Monarchs (3-5-1, 1-0-1 SBC), 8-7, after trailing 6-2 in shots at halftime. Louisiana also held a 6-1 advantage in shots during the second half.
Goalkeeper Natalie Mayes turned in another strong performance between the posts, recording two saves to preserve her 14th shutout of her career and extend her program record. Mayes also played all 90 minutes, giving her 4,534 career minutes in goal and moving her into second place in program history in career minutes played.
Carson Glenn led the Ragin' Cajuns with four shots, including one on goal, while Addison Soehn recorded a shot on target in the first half. Mayes made a key save early in the second half on Old Dominion's Madison Telmer, while Ellie Goodrich stopped Glenn's blast in the 80th minute to keep the Monarchs level.
Louisiana will return home to close out the week when it faces Troy on Sunday in a 1 p.m. match at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex. Admission is free to all Louisiana home soccer matches with the contest also being available on ESPN+.
