Glenn joins Kurihara as second UL duo to score 10-plus goals in a single season

LAFAYETTE – Carson Glenn recorded the seventh hat trick in program history, scoring three goals in the opening 17 minutes to lead Louisiana to a 4-0 Sun Belt Conference victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday at Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex.

Louisiana (10-5-3, 4-3-2 Sun Belt) scored four goals in the first half to secure the first win over Louisiana Tech (4-11-2, 2-6-1 Sun Belt) as conference members.

Glenn wasted little time putting Louisiana in front, scoring in the sixth minute off a long ball from goalkeeper Natalie Mayes and an assist from Salma Elhaimer. She doubled the advantage in the 14th minute, finishing a pass from Sydney Byrnes before completing the hat trick in the 17th minute on a feed from freshman Claire Brophy and Elhaimer.

The three-goal performance pushed Glenn's season total to 11, joining Miku Kurihara as the second pair of Louisiana teammates to record at least 10 goals in the same season. Yazmin Montoya and Annika Schmidt previously accomplished the feat in 2013.

Louisiana added its fourth goal just before halftime when a Louisiana Tech defender deflected the ball into the Bulldogs' net midway through the 45th minute.

The Louisiana defense kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard throughout the second half, limiting Louisiana Tech to five shots for the match, including three on target.

The Ragin' Cajuns finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots and put nine attempts on target. Mayes made two saves before giving way to Laine Minich, who added one save in the closing minutes to preserve the shutout.

Mackenzie Lorkowski faced five shots in the first half and recorded one save for the Bulldogs. Cadence Rutledge stopped five shots in the second half for Louisiana Tech while Jane Neil, Maeva Costenaro and Abby Hanton each placed shots on goal.

Louisiana closes out the regular season on Sunday, November 1 when it travels to Jonesboro, Ark., face Arkansas State in a 1 p.m. match.
