Ragin' Cajuns faces top-seeded Jaguars in quarterfinal match

FOLEY, Ala. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team opens the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championships on Monday, taking on top-seeded South Alabama in a quarterfinal match at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m., with the match available on ESPN+. Live statistics can be found at CajunStats.Statbroadcast.com. The winner will advance to Wednesday's semifinal at 7 p.m. to face either James Madison or Texas State.

Louisiana (7-6-4) is making its first appearance in the Sun Belt postseason since 2023 and will meet South Alabama (10-3-3) in tournament play for the first time since 2020.

Three Ragin' Cajuns were named Sunday to the All-Sun Belt Conference team – forward Carson Glenn (18 points), midfielder Miku Kurihara (16 points) and forward Salma Elhaimer (15 points). The trio powered an improved Louisiana attack that boosted its conference goal total from eight last season to 22 this year.

Goalkeeper Natalie Mayes anchors the Cajuns defensively, posting a 1.12 goals-against average with five shutouts and 54 saves this season.

South Alabama enters the tournament on a five-match shutout streak after closing the regular season with a 1-0 win at Troy last Wednesday. Zamiyah Hill scored the match's only goal, while goalkeeper Sierra Giorgio – named the 2025 Sun Belt Goalkeeper of the Year – recorded her ninth clean sheet of the season.

The Jaguars placed five players on the All-Sun Belt team – Giorgio and Andrea Iljkic (First Team), Hill (Second Team), and Melina Descary and Amelia Campanella (Third Team).

South Alabama ranks 11th nationally in shutout percentage (.625) and leads the Sun Belt in goal differential (plus-20), goals-against average (0.688) and save percentage (.817).
