The Cajuns are in the middle of their second three-game road trip this season
JONESBORO, Arkansas—The Louisiana soccer team takes on Arkansas State on Thursday in Jonesboro, the second straight road game for the Ragin' Cajuns. Louisiana has only four games remaining in the regular season as it pushes for a playoff spot.
Currently with six points, the Cajuns are tied for the final Sun Belt Conference playoff spot with Georgia Southern and Marshall. Louisiana is also just a point behind Coastal Carolina and two behind ULM, teams the Cajuns worked a draw against. Of the team's remaining four games, all four teams trail Louisiana in the standings, including Arkansas State.
The Red Wolves are 0-3-2 in conference play but are one of the best defensive teams in the league. They've allowed just 11 goals through 11 games, tying Louisiana for the second-fewest goals allowed per game at 1.00.
Louisiana has gotten contributions up and down the lineup, with 12 players scoring this season. Six players have more than one goal, led by senior Lucy Ortiz and freshman Adeline Nemeth with four. Freshman Sydney Byrnes enters the week tied for sixth in the league with four assists.
Where Arkansas State struggles is on the offensive end, scoring just 11 goals, tied with Troy for the fewest in the league. Keelyn Peacock leads the Red Wolves with four goals while only two other players have multiple goals this season.
