Ragin' Cajuns face Colonels before traveling to battle at McNeese on Sunday
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Soccer team closes out a two-match homestand on Thursday when it faces in-state opponent Nicholls at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.

Louisiana (2-1-1) got back in the win column on Sunday after defeating Southland Conference favorite Northwestern State, 4-1. Kendal Green and Alexa Ferraro each scored their first career goals for the Ragin' Cajuns while Miku Kurihara scored twice on penalty kicks in just over a minute in the second half.

Kurihara, who enters the match tied for fifth nationally in goals scored, has found the back of the net five times in the first four matches to lead Louisiana. Seven other players have scored one goal with Carson Glenn and Addison Soehn each credited with a team-high two assists.

The Ragin' Cajuns have scored 12 goals through their first four matches, tied with Georgia State and ULM for the most in the Sun Belt Conference. Natalie Mayes has recorded nine saves in three matches on the season with Ally Allen stopping five.
Nicholls (1-1-2) suffered its first loss of the season, falling 7-4 to Alcorn on August 20 in a high-scoring affair. The Colonels closed the week with a 2-2 draw against Grambling.

The Colonels have scored 19 goals on the season - one shy of last season's. Ten different players have found the back of the net, while seven players have recorded at least one assist.

Alyssa Wheeler leads the team with nine points, tallying three goals and three assists. Olyvia Pugh has eight points on three goals and two assists, while Jezlyn Nelson has three goals and one assist. Kaylie Harris ranks second on the team with two assists and has added two goals.

Defensively, the Colonels have allowed 11 goals through four matches. Goalkeeper Aislinn Wright has recorded 20 saves and one shutout. Her top performance came in the season-opening 2-2 draw against Louisiana Tech, when she made 10 saves.
