Hurrell Scores as Cajuns Earn a Point at Coastal Carolina

The freshman scored the first goal of her collegiate career
CONWAY, S.C. - Starting the back half of Sun Belt Conference play, the Louisiana soccer team came away with a crucial point with a 1-1 draw at Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
"We played with grit tonight which helped us get a point on the road," said head coach Chris McBride. "We lacked a lot of quality in our play tonight which hurt us in the attacking half."
After a quiet first half, the teams only had one shot on goal each, Louisiana got on the board early in the second half. Just 2:19 into the half, Sienna Hurell connected on a free kick to give Louisiana the 1-0 lead. With the goal, Hurrell became the 12th Cajun this season to put the ball in the back of the net.
"It's good to have a lot of players who can step up in different moments," said McBride. "Sienna took the free kick really well and helped lift the level of the game."
It was also the first of Hurrell's collegiate career. Of the 12 scorers, four of them are freshmen for a total of seven goals.
"The freshmen have done very well this year but it begins with the seniors," said McBride. "They have set a new standard and expectations of what it means to be a Ragin' Cajun and the freshmen have stepped up to that immediately."
The Ragin' Cajuns head to Jonesboro, Arkansas to face Arkansas State at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
