Red Raiders reach match-clinching point unscathed in rematch with the Ragin’ Cajuns
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team was dealt a 6-1 setback by Texas Tech in its Spring 2023 season opener on Sunday, January 15 at The Falls Tennis and Athletic Club in Lubbock, Texas.
The Red Raiders (1-2) path to victory included claiming the doubles point and opening singles play with three consecutive straight sets sweeps to reach the match-clinching fourth point.
After Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez (No. 1 singles) and Kacper Dworak (No. 6 singles) took their foes to a third-set tiebreaker before falling short, it was Karlo Kajin outlasting Sebastian Abboud 7-5, 7-5 on Court 5 to get Louisiana (0-1) on the board.
With the win, Texas Tech – ranked No. 41 in the final 2022 ITA poll – was able to avenge last season's 4-1 loss suffered to the Ragin' Cajuns in February 2022 at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock.
