Louisiana competes locally for first time in 2026 season
LAFAYETTE – The No. 75-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team competes in the Acadiana area for the first time this spring season on Thursday, February 26, facing No. 7 LSU in a 4:00 p.m. match at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
Thursday's contest is a matchup of nationally ranked in-state programs, as Louisiana (5-3) appears in the ITA poll for the first time this season. It's also the second half of a doubleheader at the Youngsville facility, with LSU (10-2) opening the day against Nicholls at noon.
The Ragin' Cajuns carry a three-match winning streak into the showdown after sweeping last weekend's H-E-B Tournament of Champions event in Corpus Christi, Texas. Louisiana blanked New Mexico State, 4-0, before rallying for four consecutive singles victories to defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-3, for the tournament title.
Local-area fans have a chance to get their first glimpse of the Ragin' Cajuns, who played their first eight matches away from home – after opening the season back on January 10 – and posted a 2-3 mark in true road contests and a 3-0 record at neutral sites.
