TROY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team was held to three shots on goal and shutout for just the third time this season in a 2-0 setback to Troy on Friday night at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The Trojans (9-3-0, 1-1-0 SBC) held a 13-11 advantage in shots while recording five shots on target to Louisiana's three. Troy goalkeeper Mikki Lewis (9-3) earned the win for the Trojans with three saves in 90 minutes of action, while redshirt freshman goalie Alexias Stricklin (5-6-1) took the loss for the Cajuns, also collecting three saves on the night.

Louisiana (5-6-1, 0-3-0 SBC) attacked the Troy defense in the first 20 minutes with four different Cajuns getting off shots. However, the Trojans were the first to strike as Abby Reynolds received a pass from Alissa Jones before finding the net for a 1-0 Troy advantage in the 20th minute.

The Cajuns kept pressuring Troy throughout the first period, outshooting the Trojans 8-5 in the first 45 minutes of play. Out of halftime, Troy took little time in extending its lead as Louise Cheng found the bottom right corner of the goal off a free kick to push the Trojans lead to 2-0.

Following the goal, Louisiana was held to just one shot for nearly 30 minutes before sophomore forward Yazmin Montoya put a shot on target only to have it saved by Lewis in the 74th minute. The Trojans defense held strong through the latter part of the match, limiting the Cajuns to one shot in the final 15 minutes of play to take the 2-0 victory.

Sophomore midfielder Kimberly Grasso led Louisiana with three shots for the match, while Reynolds paced the Trojans with three shots.
