BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajun soccer team fell to Western Kentucky, by a score of 2-0 on Sunday, dropping their first Sun Belt Conference match and falling to 4-5-2 on the season, and 1-1-0 in Sun Belt action.

WKU scored early, and starting goalkeeper Nora Abolins picked up the clean sheet en route to the victory.

"Outside of the first 10 minutes we played well," head coach Scot Wieland said.  "The second half we played a lot better.  We possessed well and had a lot of control.  WKU is a big, strong and experienced team, we just didn't execute when we should have."

The Lady Toppers opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the first half, when Iris Dunn found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.  Dunn fired a shot from 15 yards out and beat Cajuns keeper Cory DeMarco.  Chrissy Tchoula picked up an assist on the goal.

The teams would take that score into halftime with DeMarco making one save for the Cajuns.

WKU added to their lead in the 78th minute when Caitlin Hesse scored her first of the season.  Hesse headed in a crossing pass from Andrea Curry, beating new keeper Kendall Graham for the insurance goal.  Allie Auscherman also picked up an assist on the play.

That would be all that was needed for WKU behind a three-save performance by Abolins.  She improved to 4-3-4 on the season with her fourth clean sheet.

Graham and DeMarco finished the game with identical lines, picking up one save each in 45 minutes of play.  DeMarco was the goalkeeper of decision falling to 4-2-0 on the season with a 1.52 GAA.

"I liked how the team played on the weekend overall," Wieland said of the two-game roadtrip.  "With the long travel before Friday and the travel yesterday, it was tough.  They played the top-ranked team in the conference coming into the season after a long trip.  I am impressed with how they came out."

The Cajuns will stay on the road, traveling to Monroe to take on ULM on Sunday, Oct. 6 before returning home for three games at the Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.  They will take on UALR (Oct. 11), Arkansas St. (Oct. 13) and Texas St. (Oct. 18).
