Ragin' Cajuns look to maintain best start in program history
LAFAYETTE – Coming off its first nationally-ranked victory in program history, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Soccer team closes out its non-conference schedule on Tuesday when it travels to Baton Rouge to face Southern University at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Equaling its best eight-match start in school history, Louisiana (5-2-1) built a 3-1 lead and held off No. 15-ranked Texas State, 3-2, last Thursday at home. Carson Glenn scored a pair of goals with Miku Kurihara scoring her seventh goal of the season.
Kurihara, the Sun Belt Conference co-leader in goals, enters Tuesday's match with Southern (1-5-0), second in the league in points (15) and fourth in shots (27). Glenn added her second and third goals of the season against Texas State with Lily Parker and Maria Reyes each adding two.
Addison Soehn added her SBC-leading fifth assist on Kurihara's goal against the Bobcats with Glenn adding a pair of assists.
Natalie Mayes (1.80 goals against average) has recorded a school-record 13 shutouts while ranking seventh in program history in saves (158).
