The junior recorded her 11th shutout of her Cajun career
BOONE, N.C. - Natalie Mayes tied the Louisiana soccer record for career shutouts as the Ragin' Cajuns earned a hard-fought 1-0 road win at App State on Sunday. It was Louisiana's first win in Boone since 2014 and the first in the series since 2019.
It was an entertaining match with the teams combining for 31 shots, with 18 coming from the Cajuns. Mayes was terrific in the net, making a season-high six saves, for her 11th career shutout. That ties her with Amanda Moorefield and Stephanie Weston for the most in program history.
The Mountaineers came out aggressively, recording three shots on goal to just one by Salma Elhaimer in the opening 16 minutes. After going scoreless for the opening 30 minutes and change, Carson Glenn took a pass from Addison Soehn, then beat her defender with her left foot and put it in the bottom right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Louisiana took that lead into the locker room, and in the second half, they were the more aggressive side. They continued to apply pressure offensively, recording 11 shots in the second half, while holding App State to just two shots on goal to hang on for the win.
The win was Louisiana's first in Sun Belt Conference play in 2025 and snapped a five-match winless streak.
Louisiana returns home next week to host Georgia Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
