Louisiana returns home next Sunday to host Marshall for Senior Day

ATLANTA – Louisiana soccer outshot Georgia State, 22-6, but the Ragin' Cajuns were unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 Sun Belt Conference loss Sunday at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Aaliyah Faddoul scored the match's only goal in the 58th minute – her 10th of the season – to give Georgia State (9-4-1, 4-2-0 SBC) the lead.

Louisiana (9-4-2, 3-2-1 SBC) generated several scoring opportunities throughout the match, particularly in the second half, when it outshot GSU, 16-3. However, Panthers' goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte recorded six saves to preserve the shutout.

The Ragin' Cajuns threatened early, with Maiya Clark sending a shot wide in the 14th minute before Carson Glenn and Miku Kurihara tested the GSU defense. Kurihara put a shot on target in the 29th minute, but Iriarte made the save to keep the match scoreless.

Louisiana held a 6-3 advantage in shots in the opening half, with both teams entering the break deadlocked at 0-0.

The Panthers broke the tie in the 58th minute when Faddoul scored from inside the 18-yard box.

Louisiana responded with continued pressure, as Glenn and Kurihara each recorded multiple attempts in the second half. Glenn had several opportunities between the 58th and 68th minutes, while Salma Elhaimer and Addison Soehn also attempted shots as the Ragin' Cajuns looked for the equalizer.

The Cajuns continued to press in the closing minutes. Glenn forced saves from Iriarte in the 79th and 82nd minutes, and Kurihara put another shot on target in the 88th minute. Glenn added a final attempt in the closing seconds, but the Panthers cleared out a corner kick to seal the win.

Glenn led Louisiana with nine shots, including two on target, while Kurihara finished with four shots, all on goal. Iriarte made six saves for Georgia State. Louisiana goalkeeper Natalie Mayes recorded one save.

Louisiana will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, hosting Marshall at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex for Senior Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Admission is free to all Louisiana home soccer matches
