Louisiana earned a point in its first home match since August 31
LAFAYETTE - Playing at home for the first time in September, the Louisiana soccer team played Arkansas State to a 1-1 draw on Thursday at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
Louisiana dominated in shots, leading the visitors 17-4, with the Red Wolves needing to make eight saves. Natalie Mayes made one save in net for the Ragin' Cajuns.
The Cajuns controlled the pace early with three corner kicks and shots on goal by Sophia Moore and Sisley Stephens in the opening 10 minutes. Addison Soehn, Sydney Byrnes, and Briana Henry all took turns firing on net but the Cajuns weren't able to cash in on their offensive opportunities. It was the visiting side that struck first in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Out of the locker room, the Cajuns scored just 21 seconds into the half after a crossed ball deflected off of a Red Wolf player and into the net. With the score tied, Louisiana continued to attack the net. Lily Parker had a great chance in the 64th minute but her shot struck the post. Miku Kurihara's rebound shot was blocked by a defender to end the threat. That would go on to be Louisiana's best scoring chance of the second half before the final whistle ended the contest at 1-1.
Louisiana is back on the road to face App State on Sunday at noon.
