Junior looks to make final push for NCAA Championships in Wednesday's final round

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Louisiana's Malan Potgieter recorded a 4-over-par 76 and finished the second round in a tie for 22nd place at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Tuesday at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
 
The final round of the 54-hole tournament will be played on Wednesday. Potgieter, who is 1-over-par 145 after 36 holes, will tee off for the third consecutive day at 9:04 a.m. CT from the No. 1 tee. The junior will be paired in the tournament's final pairing with Florida A&M's Taylor Bell and Davidson's Will Davis in the final round.

After firing a 3-under-par 69 in Monday's opening round, Potgieter opened the second round with bogies and No. 1 and 3 before sinking birdies at both No. 4 and 6 to get back to even-par.
 
Potgieter then posted a bogey at No. 7 to make the turn at 1-over-37 before carding a bogey at No. 11 and a double bogey at No. 12 to fall to 4-over in the round. Potgieter, one of five players competing as an individual in the 75-player field, finished seven strokes behind Jacob Modleski of Notre Dame as the top individual not on a team in the top five.
 
Host Florida State, led by the world's top amateur golfer (Luke Clanton), maintained its lead on the 14-team field after finishing at 21-under-555 after 36 holes. Ole Miss (569) was second in the field with Georgia (570), New Mexico (574), and Augusta (575) rounding out the top five.
 
Notre Dame (576) finished sixth overall heading into the final round with USC (581), San Diego State (582), Louisville (583) and Northwestern (584) looking to finish among the top five teams which would advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 23-28, in Carlsbad, Calif.
