Louisiana looks to secure postseason berth with win or draw against Trojans

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Soccer team wraps up its road schedule while looking to lock up a berth in the postseason when it faces Troy in a Sun Belt Conference match on Friday at the Troy Soccer Complex.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The match will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to follow results at CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.

Louisiana (6-5-4, 3-2-3 SBC), which can clinch a spot in the SBC Tournament with a win or draw, secured a 2-1 win over Old Dominion in its last match on October 17 at home. Miku Kurihara and Carson Glenn each scored goals for the Ragin' Cajuns while Natalie Mayes stopped four shots, including a pair of potential equalizers late.

Glenn, the reigning SBC Offensive Player of the Week, looks to extend a streak of consecutive matches with a point to five. The redshirt freshman leads Louisiana in goals (6), points (14), shots (43), shots on goal (18) and game-winning goals (3).

Salma Elhaimer (4 goals, 10 points), Kurihara (3 goals, 6 points) and Addison Soehn (2 goals, 2 assists, 6 points) are next in scoring for the Ragin' Cajuns. Mayes, the school-record holder in career shutouts (12) has recorded 48 saves on the season with a 1.13 goals against average to lead the team.

Troy (5-7-3, 0-5-3 SBC) looks to get back into the win column for the first time since a 3-1 win over Stetson in its non-conference finale on September 11. The Trojans have dropped their last two matches since a 1-1 draw against Georgia Southern, falling 2-0 to Georgia State before a 3-0 setback at ULM on Sunday.

Jiselle Daniels, who scored all seven of her goals in the month of August, leads Troy in scoring (14 points) despite missing the last four matches due to injury. Alaina Uncapher (2 goals) and Elsa Stedman (2 goals) are the other multi-goal scorers on the team with Taylor Richards (1.08 GAA) posting 66 saves in 12 matches.
