The Ragin’ Cajuns are unbeaten in their last three contests
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana soccer team hosts Southern Miss as the teams head into the final month of the regular season. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
Louisiana enters the week unbeaten in its last three games, its longest streak of the season. The Cajuns struck early last time out when Salma Elhaimer put home a corner kick just two-and-a-half minutes into the game against App State. The visitors responded with a goal early in the second half to tie the game in the eventual 1-1 tie.
Southern Miss looks to get back on track after losing the last two contests by a combined score of 11-1 against South Alabama and Old Dominion. They're led offensively by Ryan Smith's three goals, while Raquelle Mitchell is the only other Golden Eagle with more than one goal.
Just six games remain in the regular season, and Louisiana enters action with five and holds down the final spot in the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Ragin' Cajuns hold the head-to-head tiebreaker against App State, who sits just behind them, while Southern Miss is the only other school behind Louisiana with a win in conference play.
