Louisiana looks to keep pace in a tight SBC race
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Looking to keep pace in a competitive Sun Belt Conference, the Louisiana men's basketball team heads to San Marcos to take on Texas State on Thursday. The Cajuns are just two games back of second with nine conference games remaining.
Louisiana faces Texas State for the second time in a week on Thursday. The Cajuns had won six in a row over the Bobcats before an 89-74 defeat in the Cajundome. Brandon Hardy scored a career-high 15 points for the Cajuns in the effort.
Kentrell Garnett continues to cross off milestones in his final season as a Ragin' Cajun. The senior needs just 28 points to become the 52nd player in program history with 1,000 points. This year he's also become the program's all-time leader in games played and moved up to fifth in made threes.
The Bobcats had won three straight, including Thursday in Lafayette, before having that streak snapped on Saturday by SBC-leading Arkansas State, 80-65. They are led offensively by Tylan Pope, who has scored at least 18 points in six straight games with three double-doubles.
