Louisiana looks to set the program record with eight straight unbeaten matches
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Looking for a program record the Louisiana soccer team takes on LSU on Sunday in Baton Rouge. The Cajuns are unbeaten through seven contests this season, tying the longest streak in program history.
Â
"We've really emphasized getting locked in before games and during practice," said Hailly Waterhouse. "We've stepped onto the field with intention and we intend to keep the momentum moving forward."
Â
Heading into Sunday the Cajuns have dominated on the stat sheet. They lead opponents 12-4 in goals and outshot them 122-47.
Â
"We bought into doing something bigger than what we've done in past years," said Waterhouse. "The coaches have done a good job of helping us when we get out there but we as a team have made sure to buy into the game plan first."
Â
A big part of that start has been the play of the freshmen for Louisiana. Adeline Nemeth has a team-leading three goals in seven games. Sienna Hurrell has been a constant force on the back line, making all seven starts, while Sydney Byrnes and Tori Bockstadter have also started matches this season.
Â
"The freshman class has come in and killed it," said Lily Parker. "They're on fire and have played such a big role. All the freshmen have played well and been a big reason to how we've been successful so far."
Â
Sunday represents the toughest task this season for the Ragin' Cajuns in LSU. The Cajuns head to Baton Rouge for the first time in over a decade looking for their first win over the Tigers in what'll be the 11th all-time match-up between the schools.
Â
"We have a game plan and if we execute it expect to have a positive result," said Parker. "I'm confident in our team. It doesn't matter who we're playing, we come in with the same mindset and look to win."
