Louisiana Plays to a 2-2 Draw at ULM on Sunday

The Ragin’ Cajuns offense broke through in the opening half with two goals
MONROE, Louisiana - After being kept in check offensively in its first two Sun Belt Conference contests, the Louisiana soccer team found the back of the net twice on Sunday at ULM. It was an offensive battle between two of the best offenses in the conference as they played to a 2-2 draw.
"I felt the team fought hard tonight and adapted well to the changes ULM made throughout the game," said head coach Chris McBride. "We made a few errors tonight that proved costly, but a point on the road against a good team will help us in the long run."
It didn't take long for the Cajuns to get themselves on the scoreboard. In the eighth minute, Sisley Stephens took a pass from Aila Swinton and put it past the goalkeeper for the early lead. The Warhawks went on to tie the score in the 28th minute, but Louisiana answered again late in the half. Adeline Nemeth fired one from just outside the 18 for her fourth goal of the season and a 2-1 lead at the half. In the 66th minute, the home team tied the score and both sides played to a draw the rest of the way.
"The first three games of conference play have been very challenging," said McBride. "We've responded to this challenge better than we did in years past but we have to keep our focus and attention to detail throughout the entire 90 minutes of every game."
The Cajuns return home to host Troy on Sunday at 1 p.m. from the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
