The Ragin’ Cajuns went 5-1-4 in non-conference action
LAFAYETTEÂ - After a strong non-conference performance the Louisiana soccer team takes on Texas State in their Sun Belt Conference opener on Sunday at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
The Ragin' Cajuns went 5-1-4 through non-conference play and head into Sunday with the best winning percentage in the league. From the start, the Cajuns have been strong in all facets of the game and have only trailed twice all season.
"It's all on the players," said head coach Chris McBride. "They've got the opportunity to grow and learn and that's what they did in the offseason. It's a testament to the players and how much they've dedicated to their growth and development. We can open the doors and set the practice sessions, but it's on them. They took this offseason extremely seriously and they grew in every area."
The Cajuns have spread the love this season on offense. So far 11 players have scored a goal and only four players, Adeline Nemeth, Lucy Ortiz, Mariella Stephens, and Aila Swinton, have scored more than once this year.
"It's really everyone on the roster making an impact," said McBride. "We haven't had someone record a brace in a game and it's a testament to the team. It's not a disadvantage to say we don't have one player to key in on but we have so many weapons in different areas of the game where we can cause problems. Teams can come in and game plan to stop something but we have another outlet and still be successful."
