Louisiana Looks To Defend Title at SBC Golf Championships

Cajuns tee off at 9:15 a.m.; paired with James Madison, Troy in opening round
MADISON, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Golf team looks to defend its conference title beginning Monday when it opens play in the Sun Belt Conference Championships at Annandale Golf Club.

First round play on the par-72, 7,190-yard course will begin at 8:30 a.m. from Holes 1 and 10. Louisiana, which will be paired with James Madison and Troy in the opening 18 holes, will tee off beginning at 9:15 a.m.

The 54-hole event will be played through Wednesday with the top four finishers in Stroke Play advancing to Match Play on Thursday. The winner of Match Play will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.

All rounds will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live results available at GolfStat.com.

Three members of last year's team – Eli Ortego, Malan Potgieter and Jake Marler – return to lead Louisiana in the 2024 event and will be joined in the five-man lineup by Burke Alford and Dylan Keating. Freshman Matthew Lotz will serve as the alternate.

Louisiana, which posted a 289.3 scoring average in 33 rounds during the 2023-24 season, claimed its first league title since 2007 and advanced to its first NCAA Regional for the first time since 2012. The Ragin' Cajuns finished in a third-place tie in stroke play before earning 3-2 wins over South Alabama and Georgia Southern to earn their fourth overall SBC title.
