Busy Weekend for Louisiana as they Near the End of the Regular Season

The Cajuns look for a big showing in Auburn while distance competes in Baton Rouge
AUBURN, Alabama - The Louisiana track and field team looks to continue their strong spring this weekend at the Auburn Invitational. The Cajuns will also compete in three distance events at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet.

The Cajuns rank at the top of the Sun Belt Conference rankings by the USTFCCCA in both men's and women's. Louisiana ranks in the top 30 in the country in eight events according to the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings.Â

The women are number five in the country in the high jump, seventh in the javelin, eighth in the 400H, and 18th in the 100H. On the men's side they are 17th in the 200, 20th in the 110H, 28th in the 400, and 30th in the 100.

Last time out the Cajuns had 12 first-place finishes at the Leon Johnson Invitational. Moseiha Bridgen had a big event, winning the 200 at 23.83, the seventh fastest time in program history. Louisiana took the top three spots in the javelin with Marin Barras (149-5), Sarah Dupuy (140-3), and Blair LaFleur (138-9) doing so. The women also won the hammer, Lily Murray (185-2), and the discus, Kimola Hines (167-6).

Reem Tammam (40-4.25) and Taylor Davis (40-1.5) went back-to-back in the triple jump. The team also took first in both women's hurdles as Kayla Meyers, 13.89 in the 100H, and Shenell Tucker, 1:04.21 in the 400H, did so.

Next week the Cajuns head to Monroe, Louisiana for the final meet before the conference championships which will also be held in Monroe.
