Three Cajuns in the 60's on Final Day of Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS – Malan Potgieter led a trio of Louisiana golfers with rounds in the 60's as he fired a 5-under-par 67 to finish 11^th overall and lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a fifth-place team finish during the final day of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Dylan Keating recorded a career-low round of 4-under 68 for Louisiana while Eli Ortego shot a 3-under-69. As a team, Louisiana posted a final round score of 9-under-279 and finished at 18-under-846 for its third top-5 finish in as many events during the fall.

Potgieter, who finished tied for 11^th after finishing with a 54-hole low of 8-under-par 208, recorded his fourth score in the 60's in nine rounds of play during the 2024-25 season. The junior notched his third top-20 finish of the season while recording his 14^th career round in the 60's.

Keating and Ortego each finished tied for 27^th with strong play on the back nine for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Keating recorded his best 54-hole finish of the season (3-under-213) and third career round in the 60's. He opened the final round with his only blemish at No. 1 before getting a pair of birdies to make the turn at 1-under-35. The Irish native continued his strong play on the back finishing with a 3-under 33 and eclipsing his previous best round (3-under-69) set last season at the Argent Financial Classic.

Ortego shook off a 1-over-37 at the turn, converting four birdies on the back nine to finish at 3-under 213 while notching his 16^th career round in the 60's.

Burke Alford added a 3-over-par 75 in the final round to finish at 2-over-218 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Carter Schmitt finishing at 4-over-220 for the tournament after carding a 5-over-77 in the final round.

Kyle Bennett, playing as an individual, posted his second 1-under-par 71 in the tournament for Louisiana and finished at 1-over-217 through 54 holes.

UNLV claimed the team title with a score of 830 with Loyola Marymount two strokes back at 832. Host SMU (834) finished third in the event with USC (838) finishing fourth and Louisiana fifth.

Louisiana will return to action on October 14-15 when it travels to Little Rock, Arkansas to compete in the Everett Buick GMC Classic at Chanel Country Club.
