Louisiana Claims Four First-Place Finishes In Split Meets

LAFAYETTE Cammi Martinez, Jacqueline Pokuaah, Javed Jones and Louden Boudreaux each claimed their individual events and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns claimed 18 top-3 finishes in meets on Friday at the University of Houston Invitational and the McNeese College Indoor.
 
Louisiana will compete in Samford University's Bulldog Open on Feb. 11 before competing in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships scheduled for Feb. 20-21 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
 
McNEESE COLLEGE INDOOR
Boudreaux led a group of five Louisiana runners in the men's 3,000-meter run as his time of 8:39.98 claimed top honors. Adam Cortez (8:45.01) was third in the event with Reece Shelby finishing fourth (8:55.85), Samuel Avants eighth (8:59.19) and Braden Scalisi 10th (9:00.92).
 
Rosalie Michot (11:28.56) placed eighth overall in the women's 3,000-meter run for Louisiana with Ava Lemoine crossing the line in 10th place (11:56.01).
 
Abbey Marie Ratcliff (2:16.55) finished second overall and a group of five Louisiana runners in the women's 800-meter run followed by Haley Salsbury in third (2:16.63), Mararia Garcia-Bravo eighth (2:20.28), Brooke Spalitta ninth (2:21.63) and Skylar Delgado 10th (2:21.78).
 
In the men's 800-meters, the Ragin' Cajuns placed four runners in the top eight with Joe Patterson finishing third overall (1:55.90) followed by Peyton Chaisson in fourth (1:56.71), Caedmon Kyles sixth (1:59.69) and Jacob Meek eighth (2:01.13).
 
Tyren Hannah, Oliver Jack and Marin Barras placed in the top eight in a pair of field events for Louisiana with Hannah finishing second in the men's shot put (56-0) and third in the weight throw (53-5). Jack placed sixth overall in the weight throw (48-6) for the Ragin' Cajuns and was eighth in the shot put (45-3¾). Jonah Harrison added a seventh-place performance in the weight throw (48-2).
 
Barras, who placed third in the women's weight throw with a mark of 51-10 on her last attempt, was fifth in the women's shot put at 41-4. Brooklynne Wilson (51-0) was fourth in the weight throw with Ashley McMillin seventh (46-4). Freshman Laila Guy earned a second-place finish in the women's shot put after posting a mark of 42-9¾.
 
HOUSTON INVITATIONAL
Martinez cleared 12-1½ to claim first-place honors in the women's pole vault for Louisiana with Jordan Brown finishing fifth (11-7¼). Pokuaah earned a pair of top-2 finishes for the Ragin' Cajuns after claiming the women's triple jump (42-0) and finishing second in the long jump (20-0½).
 
Taylor Davis posted a pair of top-8 finishes for Louisiana, finishing third in the high jump (5-7¼) and eighth in the triple jump (40-1¼). Kennedy Washington joined Davis in the high jump after finishing seventh for the Ragin' Cajuns (5-5).
 
Louisiana placed three runners in the top eight of the women's 60-meter hurdles with Kennedy London finishing second (8.49), Moseisha Bridgen fourth (8.65) and Courtney Wiltz sixth (8.70). Bridgen added an eighth-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash for Louisiana (24.95) with Ta'La Spates earning a sixth-place finish in the women's 400-meters (57.73).
 
Jones led a 1-2 finish for the Ragin' Cajuns in the men's 400-meter dash as he posted a time of 48.12 with Nathan Fergusson following in second (48.84). Kashie Crockett recorded a time of 21.44 in the men's 200-meter dash to place second overall for Louisiana with Loubert Dagrin claiming a seventh-place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.71).
 
Ronnie Jackson placed seventh in the men's high jump (6-4 ¾) for Louisiana and was eighth in the triple jump (47-1¾). Jeremy Nelson earned a second-place finish in the triple jump (50-5¼), Timothy Gale was seventh in the men's pole vault (15-9¼) and Rylan Theyard was eighth in the long jump (22-4½).
