Louisiana's Lyon, Miller Take Home Major SBC Track and Field Awards

Duo helped pace Louisiana to second-place finish in men's and women's events at SBC Indoor
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Louisiana's Henry Lyon and Daijah Miller swept major honors as the Sun Belt Conference announced its indoor track and field awards on Saturday following the league championship meet earlier this week.

Lyon was named the Sun Belt Men's Indoor Track Performer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year after a dominant showing at the conference meet. The senior transfer claimed league titles in the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters, placed second in the mile and accounted for 28 points for the Ragin' Cajuns.

The Williamsport, Pa., native set a Louisiana indoor record in the 5K at the championship, finishing in 14 minutes, 34.11 seconds. During the season, he also established school indoor marks in the mile (4:05.30) and 3K (8:01.28), breaking records that had stood since 1983. He earned Sun Belt Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors twice during the 2026 campaign.

Miller collected the Sun Belt Women's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards after capturing the conference title in the triple jump. The freshman posted a winning mark of 12.62 meters (41 feet, 5 inches) at the league meet and recorded the top triple jump mark in the Sun Belt during the 2026 indoor season.

The Pearland, Texas native also won the triple jump at the Howie Ryan Invitational with a leap of 40-9.75 and finished second at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational with a mark of 40-1.25.
