Ragin' Cajuns return home to host defending Southland Conference champs
LAFAYETTE – After playing three matches on the road against SEC competition, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team returns home on Friday when it plays host to in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission to the match is free. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live results available at CajunStats.com.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Black Student-Athlete Association are accepting donations during Friday's match which will directly benefit the Lady Lions' program. Fans attending Friday's match are asked to bring non-perishable snacks, bottled water and sports drinks which will be collected by members of both organizations and delivered to the SLU Women's Soccer program at the conclusion of the match.

Sodexo is donating all proceeds from Friday's soccer concession sales to SLU.

Louisiana (1-3-0), which dropped contests to Mississippi State, Kentucky and Tennessee, will play three of its next four matches at home beginning with SLU (1-2-0) before hosting nationally-ranked LSU on Sept. 9 and Georgia State on Sept. 16. The Ragin' Cajuns announced their upcoming home match on Sunday against the University of Houston was moved to Houston with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m., due to travel caused by the impact from Hurricane Ida.

The Lady Lions, currently displaced from its Hammond campus due to the direct impact of Ida last Sunday, have temporarily set up operations in Beaumont, Texas. SLU opened the season with losses at Grand Canyon and Arizona State before posting an 11-0 win over Alcorn State in its home opener.

• After a grueling three-match road trip against SEC competition, Louisiana returns to play three of its next four matches on its home pitch beginning Friday against 2021 NCAA participant Southeastern Louisiana.
• Louisiana, which will now travel to face Houston on Sunday, will also host LSU (Sept. 9) and Georgia State (Sept. 16) during the four-match span.
• Louisiana and SLU meet officially on the pitch for the 15th time overall and the first since a 1-1 tie in 2018.
• Louisiana's win to open the 2021 season came on an own goal in the final 30 seconds.
• The victory was the Ragin' Cajuns second consecutive opening day win with both coming by shutout (2-0 vs. Abilene Christian on Sept. 4, 2020).
• Sixteen of the 31 members on the 2021 squad are in their first year with the Ragin' Cajuns.
