Ragin' Cajuns Set For Sun Belt Championships

Louisiana paired with Coastal Carolina, ULM in opening round

EL DORADO, Ark. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team looks for its first conference championship since 2007 when it opens play on Sunday at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Mystic Creek Golf Club.
 
The tournament commences on Sunday with 54 holes of stroke play over three days on the par-72, 7,181-yard course. The teams will tee off from split tees, beginning at 8:30 a.m., with six teams teeing off on No. 1 and six teams starting at No. 10.
 
All three rounds of stroke play, along with Wednesday's semifinal and championship matches, will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with live results available at Golfstat.com and RaginCajuns.com.
 
The top four teams from the 54-hole stroke play event will advance to match play on Wednesday, April 28. The semifinal matches will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. — with the No. 4-seed and the No. 1-seed on No. 1 and the No. 3-seed and the No. 2-seed on No. 10. The championship match will tee off from No. 1 following the conclusion of the semifinal matches.
 
Louisiana, the No. 6 seed in the 12-team field, will tee off beginning at 9:15 a.m., with Hunter Hammett leading off from No. 1. Bjorn Gudjonsson (9:24 a.m.), Peter Hinnant (9:33 a.m.), Huddon Dubinski (9:42 a.m.) and Charlie Flynn (9:51 a.m.) will follow off the No. 1 teebox as the Ragin' Cajuns will be paired with Coastal Carolina and ULM on the opening day.
 
Fueled by 290.42 team scoring average – currently the lowest in school history – Louisiana looks for its first top-4 finish since the current format was introduced in 2016. The Ragin' Cajuns last claimed the SBC title in 2007 and added championships in 1993 and 1997.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns have posted four consecutive finishes in the top four beginning with a second-place finish in the Louisiana Classics.
 
South Alabama paces all current Sun Belt men's golf programs with 10 all-time team championships, while Louisiana (3), Troy (2), Little Rock (2), Arkansas State (1), Coastal Carolina (1), Georgia Southern (1) and Georgia State (1) also claim Sun Belt titles.
