Injury-riddled Ragin' Cajuns look to snap three-game slide

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team returns home to the Cajundome on Saturday when it continues its three-game homestand, facing Sun Belt Conference rival Texas State in a designated "Blackout" game.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KHXT 107.9 FM, ESPN 1420 AM and the ESPN 1420 app with Jay Walker on the call. The game will also be available on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (PxP) and former Ragin' Cajuns standout Eric Mouton (Color) providing commentary. Live results will available at CajunStats.com.
 
A short-handed Louisiana (7-12, 2-6 Sun Belt) squad dropped an 81-65 decision to UT Arlington on Thursday as the Ragin' Cajuns dressed nine players for the third straight game. Jalen Johnson scored 23 points to lead all players with Tirus Smith (11 points, 11 rebounds) recording his first career double-double for the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
P.J. Hardy added 10 points in a season-high 38 minutes for Louisiana, returning from a seven-game absence from an ankle injury and earning his first start since the 2018-19 finale against South Alabama in the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
 
Texas State (11-8, 4-4 Sun Belt) rallied for a 64-63 win at ULM on Thursday behind 23 points from Nijal Pearson. The senior, who became the Bobcats' all-time leading scorer (1,899 points) in Thursday's win, recorded his sixth consecutive 20-point game of the season and 10th during the 2019-20 campaign.
