Vunipola with quick equalizer late in regulation; Lee moves into sixth on UL saves list
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Telly Vunipola's goal in the 84th minute capped off a wild rally in regulation while Mackenzie Lee recorded four saves to move into sole possession of sixth place on the school's all-time list as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie against Little Rock in a Sun Belt Conference match on Sunday at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.

Vunipola attempted three shots for Louisiana (4-4-3, 0-1-2 Sun Belt) while Katherine Whitman and Rachel Sutter each took a pair of attempts.

After playing to a scoreless duel for the majority of regulation, Little Rock (3-5-5, 0-1-3 Sun Belt) took a 1-0 lead in the 84th minute when Fanney Einarsdottir took a feed from Julian Edholm and blasted a shot from beyond the 18-yard box past Lee and into the upper left corner of the goal.

The Trojans lead would be short-lived as Vunipola would answer for the Ragin' Cajuns with her second goal of the season 13 seconds later. The sophomore received a feed from midfielder Rainey Niles and scoring from 10 yards out past Little Rock goalkeeper Julia Curatolo and into the lower, left corner of the goal.

Whitman and Franziska Riepl each attempted shots in the final extra session for the Ragin' Cajuns before Vunipola missed on a close opportunity in the 107th minute of play.

Lee increased her career total in saves at Louisiana to 146, passing Anne Corbello (144, 2000) for sixth-place on the school's all-time list. The senior knocked away an open shot from Little Rock's Jessica Carmichael in the 20th minute to keep the Trojans off the board and stopped a shot a potential go-ahead goal by Morgan Smocovich in the 87th. Louisiana will return to action on Friday when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference foe Appalachian State in a 7 p.m. match at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex. Admission to all Ragin' Cajuns home matches is free.
