Louisiana looks to extend three-match win streak against visiting Colonels

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team looks to extend its current three-match win streak on Wednesday when it plays host to in-state opponent Nicholls State at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission to all Ragin' Cajuns Soccer matches is free. Live results of the match will be available at CajunStats.com with a live video stream available at RaginCajuns.com/Live.
 
Equaling its longest win streak since the 2016 season, Louisiana (3-2-1) comes off a 2-1 double overtime victory at Sam Houston State on Sunday behind goals from Una Einarsdottir and Karleen Bedre.
 
Bedre leads Louisiana in goals scored (3) and points (9), while being credited with a team-high tying three assists. Einarsdottir, Skyla Sykes and Katherine Whitman have scored two goals each for the Ragin' Cajuns with Rachel Sutter tying Bedre with three assists.
 
Goalkeeper Mackenzie Lee has stopped 22 shots in six matches on the season for Louisiana while allowing one goal in her last three matches.
 
Nicholls (2-1-1), in the midst of a five-match road trip, dropped a 2-1 decision at Prairie View on Sunday. Blaire Laiche has shined for the Colonels, notching four goals on the season with Elisabet Gunnthorsdottir adding a pair of goals.

• Louisiana, playing its 20th season of intercollegiate soccer, plays the second of three straight matches against Southland Conference opponents when its faces Nicholls on Wednesday at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.
• The match against Nicholls is the third of four against SLC schools this season for Louisiana, which faced Lamar on Aug. 25) and Sam Houston State (Sept. 8) and will face Northwestern State (Sept. 15).

SHUTOUTS AND SAVES...
• The shutout of Chicago State on Sept. 1 was the fifth for Mackenzie Lee, moving her into sole possession of fifth place on the Louisiana career list.
• Lee tied Cosette Morche (2015-16) for fourth-place on the all-time list after the Ragin' Cajuns 3-0 shutout of Southern on Sept. 5. 
• Lee is one win shy of tying Morche for fourth place on the school's all-time list in victories (12).
 
CAJUNS IN THE SUN BELT
• As a team, Louisiana is ranked second in the Sun Belt Conference in shots (86) and tied for second in the league in assists (13).
• The Ragin' Cajuns are third in points (37), tied for third in goals scored (12) and tied for fourth in goals per game (2.00).
• Freshman Karleen Bedre is tied for fifth in the league in goals scored (3) and tied for fourth in assists (3).
• Junior captain Una Einarsdottir is tied for fourth in shot attempts (15).
• Freshman Rachel Sutter is tied for fourth in the league in assists (3).
• Mackenzie Lee enters the week tied for fifth in the Sun Belt in saves (22), tied for sixth in saves per game (3.67) and 10th in goals against average (2.17)

• Louisiana has officially played 70 matches against current members of the Southland Conference and is 36-27-7 overall.
• The Ragin' Cajuns have played Northwestern State the most among current SLC schools (16 meetings) and have face McNeese State (15), Southeastern Louisiana (14) and Nicholls (11).
• Louisiana has also faced current SLC members Lamar (6), Sam Houston State (6) and Stephen F. Austin (2).
 
AWAY FROM THE FRIENDLY CONFINES
• Eleven of Louisiana's 18 regular-season matches are being played away from the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex, including six of the first seven matches.
• The opening stretch of matches in 2019 marks the first time since 2008 that Louisiana will play one home match in its first seven contests of the season.
