Lance Key era officially begins as Louisiana faces UTSA, Lamar
LAFAYETTE – The Lance Key era officially gets underway on Thursday when the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team faces UTSA in the first day of the 2019 Cardinal Classic in Beaumont, Texas.

Louisiana opens its 20th season of intercollegiate soccer facing UTSA (6-9-2 in 2018) before battling host Lamar on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns open the season playing their first four matches on the road before hosting Southern University on Sept. 5.

The Ragin' Cajuns return 18 letterwinners from last year's team and added nine newcomers, including local products Hailey Daigle (Acadiana/Louisiana Tech) and Katherine Whitman (St. Thomas More/St. Edward's), along with Louisiana Tech transfer Alex Augustyn, who was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2018.

Una Einarsdottir and Gwen Mummert return to the lineup after leading the Ragin' Cajuns in scoring last season with Julianne DeBlieux, Telly Vunipola, Madysin Girouard and Grace Champagne all getting into the scoring column.
