LAFAYETTE – Brooke Ramsey took a short pass from Lauren Prater and scored from the top of the box to lead Texas State to a 2-1 overtime win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team on Friday evening at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.

Texas State (6-5-2, 3-1-1 SBC) sent the game into overtime with a goal in the 88th minute from Rachel Grout off a corner kick.
Â
Louisiana (6-6-1, 2-2-1 SBC) scored the game's first goal in the 19th minute on a shot by senior Natalie Newman off a throw in from junior Ashleigh Cade. It was Newman's third goal of the season.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns held the Bobcats scoreless, preserving the early lead, until the 88th minute when Grout's corner kick bounced off a Louisiana defender into the back of the net.
Â
Texas State, which held a 24-15 advantage in shots, had control of possession for most of the overtime period until Prater found Ramsey off a corner kick for the match-winning goal.
Â
"Credit to Texas State," head coach Scot Wieland said. "They outplayed us and were the better team tonight."
Â
