LAFAYETTE – Taylor Schneider took a free kick pass from Tayler Carter in the 30th minute and chipped the ball into the upper right corner of the goal to lead Arkansas State to a 1-0 win over Louisiana in a Sun Belt Conference soccer match on Friday evening at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.

Arkansas State (4-6-3, 2-4-1) had a solid defensive stand in the second half and goalkeeper Kelsey Ponder recorded five saves to help the Red Wolves defeat the Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana (6-7-1, 2-3-1 SBC) held a 12-9 advantage in shots, but couldn't get a ball past Ponder. Senior Yazmin Montoya had five shots for the Cajuns while senior Lindsay Brammer and freshman Ella Schickhoff had two shots each.

Schneider's goal was her third of the season while Carter was credited with her third assist of the season for the Red Wolves.

Louisiana sophomore goalkeeper Cosette Morche recorded four saves.
