LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team takes a three-game win streak into its final non-conference series of the year as the Cajuns host Jackson State in a three-game series this weekend at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
 
Game one of the series is slated for Friday at 6 p.m., while game two will get underway at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams will close out the weekend at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the "Tigue".
 
Louisiana (18-13, 8-6 Sun Belt) picked up a pair of mid-week victories edging out No. 22 Houston 6-5 before surging past Southern 14-1 on the road. The Cajuns will go with the same starting rotation for the third straight weekend with left-hander Gunner Leger making the start on Friday, right-hander Greg Milhorn taking the mound on Saturday and right-hander Evan Guillory on Sunday.
 
Leger and Guillory are tied for the team lead in wins with three a piece. Leger also has a team-best 47.1 innings pitched and 36 strikeouts.
 
Junior All-America Blake Trahan is one game away from tying the school record hit streak having recorded at least one hit in the last in the last 22 contests. Chris Webb holds the school record posting a 23-game hit streak from April 6 to May 15 in 1996.
 
Trahan leads the Ragin' Cajuns offensive attack hitting .380 with 11 doubles, a triple, home run and has driven in 16 runs. Junior infielder Stefan Troslcair has been on a roll in the last 14 games raising his average from .269 to .348. Trosclair has a team-high five home runs and is slugging .609 with 18 RBI.
 
Louisiana is 4-1 all-time against Jackson State with three of the five meetings coming in postseason play including two last season. The Tigers upset the Cajuns 1-0 in the first game of the 2014 Lafayette Regional. The Ragin' Cajuns eliminated JSU with an 11-1 victory to go to the regional championship game.
 
Jackson State (21-11, 9-5 SWAC) has won five straight coming into the series having defeated Southern 12-9 in the mid-week after sweeping Alcorn State in a four-game series. The Tigers have a 6.29 ERA as a team and have yet to announce their rotation for the weekend. Rene Colon leads the team with a 4-0 record and a 5.94 ERA in seven starts.
 
JSU boasts a .312 average offensively with seven every day players hitting over .300 on the year. Melvin Rodriguez has a team-best .413 average with 13 doubles, 1 triple and two home runs and ranks 16th in the nation with 42 RBI. Lamar Briggs is second on the squad hitting .368 with seven doubles, two triples and 27 RBI.
 
Following the series with the Tigers, the Cajuns continue its four-game homestand on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they host Southeastern Louisiana. Louisiana resumes conference play next weekend with three games at Texas State.
