Friends of Tony Robichaux Fund Launched to Support Louisiana Baseball

$5 million fundraising campaign announced as Louisiana Athletics names baseball complex Tony Robichaux Park
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics and the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Foundation (RCAF) have launched the Friends of Tony Robichaux Fund, a $5 million fundraising campaign that will directly support Louisiana Baseball while honoring the legacy of the winningest Division I baseball coach in Louisiana collegiate history.
As part of the initiative, Louisiana Athletics will name its baseball complex Tony Robichaux Park in honor of the legendary coach whose impact on Louisiana Baseball extended well beyond the field.
During his 25-year tenure at Louisiana, Robichaux guided the Ragin' Cajuns to seven Sun Belt Conference regular-season championships and four conference tournament titles. His teams produced 29 All-Americans and five Academic All-Americans, while 67 Louisiana players were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
But Robichaux's greatest legacy was measured not only in championships, wins and professional players.
He built Louisiana Baseball into a nationally respected program while placing an emphasis on servant leadership and developing young men for success beyond the game – as leaders, husbands and fathers. His vision and commitment also played a pivotal role in the transformation of M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field into one of the nation's premier on-campus collegiate baseball facilities.
The Friends of Tony Robichaux Fund will carry that legacy forward by providing direct support for Louisiana Baseball and helping ensure future generations of Ragin' Cajuns have the opportunity to experience the same program Robichaux worked tirelessly to build.
"I can't think of a more appropriate or meaningful fund than the Friends of Tony Robichaux Fund," Louisiana head baseball coach Matt Deggs said. "Coach Robe helped build this place, alongside the coaches and players who gave their blood, sweat and tears to this program. To now have the opportunity to put his name on this stadium and honor everything he meant to Louisiana Baseball is incredibly special.
"I know how proud Coach Robe would be. He gave so much to this university, this program and the young men he coached, and now we have an opportunity to carry that legacy forward while providing resources that will benefit Louisiana Baseball for years to come."
The $5 million campaign provides an opportunity for former players, coaches, alumni, supporters and friends of Louisiana Baseball to honor Robichaux's legacy while investing in the future of the program he helped shape.
"I think this is going to give people an opportunity to come back, reconnect and be part of something meaningful in Coach Robe's name," Deggs added. "It feels like we've come full circle. It's the right time, the right place and, most importantly, the right man to honor."
