Ragin’ Cajuns Fall To Ole Miss On The Road

OXFORD, Miss. – Freshman forward Danielle DeRosa scored her second career goal in as many matches, but the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns fell to Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon, 5-1, at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
Less than a minute into the match, DeRosa took the ball away from veteran keeper Kelly McCormick after a pass back and placed the ball between the posts to put the Cajuns on top 1-0.
The Rebels evened the score in the 13th minute as a header by Jessica Hiskey found the net off a corner kick from Addie Forbus. In the 26th minute, Ole Miss struck again with Forbus delivering for the Rebels off a pass from Liza Harbin. Harbin recorded her second assist of the match in the 32nd minute with a cross inside the box to Forbus, who then found the far side of the net to make it 3-1 at the half.
Ole Miss added to its lead four minutes into the second half with a header by Hiskey from Forbus in the 49th minute for a 4-1 advantage for the Rebels. In the final minutes, Forbus recorded a hat trick with a shot from inside the box in the 85th minute to extend the Rebels' lead to 5-1.
Freshman midfielder Madison Duncan led the Cajuns with two shots on the afternoon with one being on goal. Forbus led Ole Miss with six shots, five being on goal. McCormick (2-1-1) earned the win for the Rebels, allowing one goal and tallying one save. Redshirt freshman Alexias Stricklin (2-2-0) took the loss, allowing four goals while picking up six saves.
Louisiana will continue its road swing Friday with a 4 p.m. match against Nicholls State in Thibodaux before returning home to host Texas Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
