Pair of Sun Belt Matches Next for Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team carries a 2-1 Sun Belt Conference record into the weekend with a pair of home conference matches on Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. against UALR and Arkansas State, respectively.
The Cajuns are 5-5-2 overall in 2013 with a pair of conference wins, coming against ULM and Georgia State, falling to WKU.
Friday night is Lafayette Youth Soccer Association night, where the team will honor all youth soccer players at the match. Sunday is Brest Cancer Awareness at the Pitch, in coordination with Breast Cancer Awareness Month happening throughout October.
The Cajuns will look to find continued success in the conference, as well as at home, when they face UALR on Friday. Having won four of their last five matches, including the last two at home, Louisiana will look to continue rolling.
UALR will make the trip to Lafayette on Friday, with a 3-9-0 record, and 0-3-0 Sun Belt record. The Cajuns hold a 9-4-0 record all-time against the Trojans and have won two of the last three meetings. Arkansas State is 6-5-2 on the year and 1-2-0 in Sun Belt matches, with UL holding the all-time series lead at 7-5-0, despite ASU winning three of the last four matches.
The Cajuns will look to roll with the two-goalkeeper tandem as they have in the last six games. Sophomore Cory DeMarco and Kendall Graham have split time in each game and have combined on the season for a 1.27 GAA, 57 saves and three shutouts, while allowing 16 goals.
The Cajuns have four home matches remaining coming into the weekend. They will stay at home on Oct. 18 when Texas State comes to town before a midweek road trip to South Alabama on Oct. 24, before returning home to finish the season off with Senior Day on Oct. 27 against Troy.
The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Tournament takes place from November 6-10 in San Marcos, Texas, hosted by Texas State.
