Ragin' Cajuns host 2025 national runner-up Chanticleers in final regular-season series
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana closes out the regular season beginning on Thursday when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference leader and 2025 national runner-up Coastal Carolina for a three-game series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
The series begins on Thursday at 6 p.m., and continues on Friday at 6 p.m. The conclusion of the three-game series, which includes Senior Day and graduation ceremonies, is scheduled for 2 p.m.
All three games will be available on ESPN+, with fans able to listen locally on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.

Saturday's finale will include a pre-game ceremony to recognize and honor Louisiana's senior class – Lee Amedee, Rigoberto Hernandez, Andrew Herrmann, Tyler Papenbrock and Jose Torres – along with its graduating class: Amedee, Herrmann, Murphy Brooks and field manager Dylan Auzenne.
Louisiana (32-20, 14-13 SBC) has won seven of its last nine SBC games and 10 of its last 13 overall heading into the final weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns enter the weekend in sole possession of sixth place in the league standings and look to clinch a spot in the double-elimination bracket in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championships at DABOS Park in Montgomery, Ala.
Freshman Colt Brown (.326-5-41) and Amedee (.310-4-40) have paced a resurgent Louisiana offense that has posted a team batting average of .297 with 8.0 runs scored in its last 15 games. Noah Lewis (.288-1-14), Steven Spalitta (.270-4-29) and Drew Markle (.266-5-37) have played a huge role in getting on the basepaths for the Ragin' Cajuns, who rank 39th nationally in stolen bases (101), 35th in batters hit by pitch (94) and 40th in sacrifice bunts (31).
Cody Brasch (4-2, 2.47 ERA) will start in Thursday's opener for the Ragin' Cajuns, Herrmann (6-3, 4.19 ERA) will start on Friday, with Saturday's starter to be determined.
Coastal Carolina (35-17, 20-7 SBC), ranked in all five major national polls, including No. 20 by D1Baseball, closed out its midweek schedule on Tuesday with a 5-3 win over cross-state rival The Citadel. The Chanticleers, who hold a one-game lead over Southern Miss in the SBC standings, reached the finals of the College World Series last season for the second time in school history.
Dean Mihos (.319-5-37) and Walker Mitchell (.308-0-49) are the top regulars in the lineup for Coastal Carolina, with Blake Barthol (.299-5-35) leading all Division I players in sacrifice bunts (18).
The Chanticleers hit .268 as a team, but have reached base at a .393 clip, based on leading all Division I schools in hit by pitches (126) and sacrifice bunts (65). Coastal Carolina is second among SBC schools in stolen bases with 108 – seven ahead of the Ragin' Cajuns – and are third in the league in runs scored (374).
