Troy's Five-Run Sixth Trips Cajuns, 7-6

Series resumes on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Louisiana (21-16, 6-10 SBC) carried a 6-2 lead into the sixth behind junior Cody Brasch, who was making his second start of the season. Brasch, who pitched a season-high 5.1 innings and tied a season-high with six strikeouts, allowed a leadoff double to Blake Cavill and a one-out RBI single to Steven Meier before exiting.
Reliever Ty Roman (2-4) entered and walked Drew Nelson and hit Nolan Book to load the bases. A walk to Sean Darnell forced in a run, and Houston Markham's sacrifice fly cut the deficit to one. Piasecki followed with a triple just past the reach of Noah Lewis, scoring the tying and go-ahead runs.
Zach Crotchfelt (2-2) earned the win for Troy (19-19, 9-7 SBC) after allowing one run in the sixth before retiring the Cajuns over the final four innings. He scattered three hits, struck out seven and set Louisiana down in order in the ninth.
Louisiana struck first in the opening inning on Josh Lim's RBI double – the first of two extra-base hits for the freshman on the night. Troy answered in the bottom half when Piasecki singled and, after two strikeouts, Jimmy Janicki doubled to right to tie the game before scoring on Meier's RBI single for a 2-1 lead.
The Cajuns responded with four runs in the fifth inning. Blaze Rodriguez singled and moved to second after Donovan LaSalle was hit by a pitch. Drew Markle's sacrifice advanced both runners, and Rodriguez scored on Lee Amedee's groundout to tie the game.
Rigoberto Hernandez followed with an RBI single to give Louisiana the lead, and Lim added his second double of the game to extend the advantage to 4-2. Colt Brown capped the inning with an RBI double for a 5-2 lead.
Louisiana added another run in the sixth when Rodriguez doubled, stole third and scored on LaSalle's suicide squeeze, pushing the lead to 6-2 before Troy's rally.
Benjamin Stubbs allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings for Troy, walking two and striking out four. Brasch allowed four runs on eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Hernandez led Louisiana's 11-hit effort with three hits, one run and one RBI. Lim drove in two runs for the Ragin' Cajuns, while Brown and Rodriguez added two hits each.
Piasecki, Meier and Book recorded two hits apiece for Troy. Piasecki and Meier each drove in two runs.
The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Louisiana is expected to start Andrew Herrmann (4-2), who earned his nation's best third complete-game in last week's win against Southern Miss.
