Louisiana looks to avoid sweep in finale on Sunday
Galloway's first homer, a line drive that cleared the left-field fence, erased an early 3-0 lead by the Cajuns (16-7, 2-3 SBC). His second, a towering drive to left-center, put the Bobcats (14-8, 2-3 SBC) ahead 6-3.
Both homers came with two outs off Cajuns starter Andrew Herrmann (3-1). Herrmann suffered his first loss of the season after allowing seven runs in five innings – four were unearned. He walked two and struck out five.
Salas' home run came off reliever Garret Carter as part of a four-run, seventh inning in which Texas State sent eight men to the plate and collected five hits.
Louisiana jumped out to a quick start against Bobcats starter Sam Hall, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Rigoberto Hernandez. The Cajuns extended the lead to 3-0 in the third when Drew Markle hit a two-run homer — his third of the season — after Donovan LaSalle reached on an error.
Texas State answered in the third after an error on a ground ball gave the Bobcats a leadoff runner. Austin Mungia singled with one out, and after Herrmann struck out Jackson Cotton for the second out, Galloway's liner just cleared the fence in left field to tie the game.
The Cajuns regained the lead in the fifth inning when Lee Amedee singled against the Texas State shift and later scored when Colt Brown's sacrifice fly was dropped for an error in right-center.
But after recording the first two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Herrmann allowed a double to Mungia and walked Cotton to set up Galloway, who delivered his second three-run homer of the game to give Texas State the lead for good.
Reliever Cade Smith (1-0) was sharp out of the bullpen for the Bobcats, allowing just two hits over 4.2 scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out seven to earn the win.
Galloway led Texas State's 12-hit attack with three hits, while Ethan Farris and Mungia added two hits apiece.
Amedee and Hernandez each collected two hits for the Cajuns, who finished with nine hits.
Louisiana will try to avoid the sweep Sunday at 1 p.m. in the final game of the series in San Marcos.
