Louisiana Opens Outdoor Season at McNeese Cowboy Relays

Several Cajuns to get early prep for upcoming Louisiana Classics
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team opens its 2026 outdoor season on Saturday when it travels west to Lake Charles to compete in the McNeese State Cowboy Relays at the Bill and Lena Henning Track and Field Complex.
The 10-team field will start at 9 a.m., with the men's hammer throw before running events begin at noon. Joining Louisiana and host McNeese will be ULM, along with several non-Division I schools and track clubs. Live results can be followed HERE.
Louisiana, which will host the upcoming Louisiana Classics on March 20-21 at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex, will be represented across a wide range of field events throughout the day.
In the women's javelin, the Cajuns will send a quartet of competitors into action including Emma Bacilla, Ellie Manuel, Sarah Dupuy and Macy Dailey. Bacilla enters the meet with the top returning mark among the Louisiana entries at 47.19 meters, while Manuel (45.38m) and Dupuy (44.15m) also bring solid marks into the competition.
The Cajuns will also be well represented in the throws. Praiyer Jones (17.48m) headlines Louisiana's entries in the men's shot put, with Chase Lathrop also competing in the event before returning later in the day for the discus alongside Jones.
On the women's side, Aniya Hill (45.02m) and Laila Guy (14.30m in shot put) are among the Cajuns scheduled to compete in the throwing events.
Rachel Kerr, Elaine Paul, Jasmine Sakaguchi and Lauren Roberts are slated to compete for the Ragin' Cajuns in the women's pole vault, while Kenzie Touchet will represent the Cajuns in both the long jump and the 400-meter hurdles. The Cajuns will also have competitors in the high jump, including Andrea Monroy and Bethany Casey.
Louisiana will also feature competitors in several track events during the meet. Federico Bovo is scheduled to run in the men's 400-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles, while Touchet will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles.
