SB Bethaney Noble Congratulated After Scoreless Inning vs. Missouri 02.22.26

Louisiana Run Rules Missouri, Splits Sunday in Lake Charles

Noble steadies and Cajuns score nine unanswered runs in opener before Houston takes second game

LAKE CHARLES – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team experienced mixed results in run-rule fashion on Sunday, February 22 in the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash at Joe Miller Field in Lake Charles, defeating Missouri, 9-1, in six innings before falling to Houston, 10-0, later in the day.

Sunday's action brought a close to a busy six-game weekend for Louisiana that was spread across tournaments held at LSU and McNeese, the squad finishing with a 4-2 mark.

The day began with Louisiana (10-6) responding to an early run from Missouri with nine unanswered runs to secure the run-rule victory over an SEC foe.

The Tigers (5-11) struck first in the top of the first inning when Addy Waits tripled and scored on a two-out hit by Abby Hay. From there, Louisiana pitcher Bethaney Noble (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K) settled in.

Noble held Missouri scoreless the rest of the way, the right-hander finishing with five hits and one run allowed over six innings. She struck out five and walked only one over 112 pitches to improve to 3-0 on the season, now having worked 20.0 innings and yielding only one run.

The Ragin' Cajuns broke through and took the lead for good in the third when Kennedy Marceaux (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) launched a two-run home run to center field, giving Louisiana a 2-1 lead.

UL increased its advantage to 4-1 with two more runs in the fourth. Pinch runner McKayla Ferguson and Madyson Manning (2-for-3, double), who doubled to place runners at second and third, both scored on Mia Liscano's two-run single.

Liscano finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored to pace a 12-hit attack. She collected her second three-hit game and fourth multiple-hit game overall on the young season.

The Ragin' Cajuns put the game away with a five-run sixth inning. Gabbie Stutes tripled home a run before Liscano delivered an RBI double. Marceaux later reached on an error that allowed another run to score, and Emily Smith (2-for-4, 2 RBI) capped the rally and ended the game early with a two-run single.

In the second game, Houston (11-3) used early power and a big sixth inning to claim a 10-0 win in six innings.

The Cougars opening the scoring in the first on a solo home run by Maddie Hartley. UH added three runs in its next trip to the plate, highlighted by a two-run double from Ariel Redmond who homered in the fourth to advance the lead to 5-0.

Pitcher Nevaeh Brown protected the lead for Houston. She went on to toss a complete-game shutout, yielding three hits and preventing the Cajuns from advancing a runner past second base.

Houston broke the game open with five runs in the sixth, collecting four hits in the inning.

Marceaux, Miki Watts and Mia Norwood accounted for the Louisiana's hits. The Cajuns threatened in the fifth with two runners on but were unable to break through.

Starting pitcher Julianne Tipton (3-1) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs in 1.2 innings. Tipton was one out away in the second inning from keeping the Cougars from stretching out the early lead, but back-to-back walks extended the frame to Redmond's key plate appearance.
