Ragin' Cajuns, Red Wolves play first of two contests in eight-day span
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team prepares for its final week at home for the 2025-26 season when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference rival Arkansas State on Thursday at the Cajundome.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (pxp) and Eric Mouton (color) providing commentary. Fans in the Lafayette area can listen to the game on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana (9-18, 6-8 SBC) faces Arkansas State (16-11, 7-7 SBC) for the first of two meetings in an eight-day span this season with the teams set to compete in the regular-season finale in Jonesboro on February 27.
The game marks the first of two final home games for the Ragin' Cajuns, who will host Texas State on Saturday (Feb. 21) in a noon contest.
Louisiana looks to end a two-game skid after losses to SBC East foes Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion. The Ragin' Cajuns will look to move up in the SBC standings with four games remaining but will face Troy (Feb. 25) and A-State on the road to wrap up the regular season.
Dorian Finister has performed at an all-conference level for Louisiana, leading the team in both scoring (14.4 ppg.) and rebounds (4.8 rpg.). The New Orleans native is also one of the top 3-point shooters on the team, converting on 36 percent (36-for-99) from the field.
Jaxon Olvera (12.0 ppg.) and De'Vion Lavergne (10.1 ppg.) are the Ragin' Cajuns following Finister in the scoring column.
A-State had its three-game win streak snapped on Saturday in a 92-88 overtime contest against South Alabama. The Red Wolves snapped a three-game losing streak on February 4 with a 70-66 win at Coastal Carolina before blowout wins over Bowling Green (91-54) and ULM (103-70).
Christian Harmon is one of three players for A-State averaging in double figures at a team-high 13.2 points per game. Matt Hayman (11.6) and Chandler Jackson (10.1) are next in scoring for the Red Wolves with Jalen Hampton pulling down a team-best 8.6 rebounds per contest.
