Hardy posts SBC's top mark in 60 meters in final tuneup for indoor championships

HOUSTON – Camren Hardy recorded the Sun Belt Conference's fastest time this season in the men's 60 meters and Louisiana captured six individual titles Friday at the Howie Ryan Invitational at Yeoman Fieldhouse.

Competing in its final tuneup before the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24 in Birmingham, Alabama, Louisiana posted 17 top-three finishes.

Hardy clocked a personal-best 6.74 seconds in the 60-meter preliminaries before winning the final in 6.71 seconds – the fifth-fastest time in school history. The sophomore also placed third in the 200 meters in 21.55 seconds.

Louisiana swept the men's and women's mile. Henry Lyon won the men's title in 4:05.30, breaking the school record (4:05.49) set by Ian Wilkerson in 1983. Ella Segura claimed the women's crown in 4:54.35, finishing just ahead of teammate Isabelle Russell (4:55.65).

The Ragin' Cajuns secured three victories in women's field events. Alaysha Veal won the high jump at 5 feet, 10Âľ inches; Reem Tammam captured the long jump at 19-2; and Daijah Miller claimed the triple jump at 40-9Âľ.

Tijuanique Morton finished second in the women's 200 meters in 24.27 seconds, and Madison Bailey placed third in the 800 meters in 2:15.75. Jasmine Sakaguchi took second in the pole vault at 12-7½, while Lily Murray finished third in the weight throw at 63-8Âľ.

On the men's side, Mason Haley placed third in the 3,000 meters in 8:26.99. Kyron Sumler cleared 6-6Âľ to finish second in the high jump, Praiyer Jones was second in the shot put at 57-2Âľ, and Federico Bovo took third in the long jump at 23-3½.
