Louisiana starts season-ending stretch of conference games

TROY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team returns to Sun Belt Conference play on Thursday, February 12 taking on Troy in a 6:00 p.m. contest at Trojan Arena in Troy, Alabama.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns are continuing a three-game road trip that began last Saturday with an 82-71 win over Akron in the MAC-SBC Challenge. The last stop will be on Saturday in Mobile (at South Alabama).
 
UL and Troy will complete the annual season series between the two programs. Live coverage is available on ESPN+ and The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (3-21, 1-12 SBC) are starting the stretch run of conference play – each of the final five games of the regular season are against SBC foes.
 
Troy (19-5, 10-2 SBC) won the first matchup, claiming an 80-54 win on New Year's Day at the Cajundome. The Trojans used a 5-0 first-half ending run to open up a 35-22 contest, then followed with separate runs of 8-2 and 14-2 in the third quarter to build a commanding advantage.
 
Louisiana heads to Troy coming off its first road win of the season. Paced by 12 points from Imani Daniel in the first quarter alone, the Cajuns racked up 27 points in the first quarter at Akron and never relinquished their lead.
 
Over the past month, Mikaylah Manley has developed into a consistent scorer. Her 13 points at Akron extended her streak of consecutive games in double figures to seven straight games which includes four 20-plus point efforts. In the last SBC contest, Manley poured in a career-high 27 points against Old Dominion.
 
The SBC's top-scoring freshman duo of Daniel and Amijah Price led the charge at Akron with 21 points and 16 points, respectively. Together, Daniel (238) and Price (271) have accounted for 509 points in their debut season.
 
Troy is opening a four-game homestand on Thursday. The Trojans lead the conference in assists (15.7), rebound margin (+13.5), defensive rebounds (31.8), offensive rebounds (31.8), total rebounds (50.6), scoring margin (+14.5) and scoring (84).

  • Freshman Imani Daniel led the way averaging 20.5 point per game in exhibition action highlighted by a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double vs. LSU-A.
  • Garry Brodhead is the program's all-time winningest head coach and the only head coach to reach both 100 and 200 victories. His career record entering Thursday's game stands at 218-202.
