After two-game exhibition sweep, the 2026-27 campaign officially starts during 6:00 p.m. contest
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team opens the 2026-27 season against Xavier (La.) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, at the Cajundome.
The game marks the start of Garry Brodhead's 15th season as Louisiana's head coach. NAIA-based Xavier (3-0), which opened its season on October 23, is counting the contest as an exhibition.
Live coverage is available on ESPN+ and The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM.
Admission is free for the opener and all Louisiana Women's Basketball home games throughout the entire season. The Cajundome's clear bag policy will be in effect, and concessions will be cashless.
Tuesday's opener is the first regular-season meeting between UL and XULA since 2021-22. The Ragin' Cajuns won the most recent meeting, beating the Gold Nuggets 64-40 in a November 2023 exhibition.
Louisiana averaged 58 rebounds per game and forced the opposition into 25-plus turnovers per game in a pair of exhibition wins the previous two weeks, beating LSU Alexandria 100-62 and Mississippi Christian 75-63.
Preseason All-Sun Belt selection Imani Daniel averaged 8.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two preseason triumphs, while junior college transfer guard Malaya Jones scored in double figures in both games.
Daniel leads the core group of UL's six returnees who are joined by a contingent of eight newcomers, headlined by Jones, in beginning a new season where the Ragin' Cajuns look to rebound from last season.
