Ragin' Cajuns post combined 11 first-place finishes

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's distance medley relay team eclipsed an 11-year-old record while adding three first-place finishes during the opening day of the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational on Friday at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.
 
Competing at the McNeese Indoor II, Chloé Crowell recorded one of eight first-place finishes, posting the fourth-fastest time in school history in the women's 3,000 meters, while the Ragin' Cajuns posted a 1-2-3 finish in the men's 800 meters.
 
Louisiana will wrap up the weekend on Saturday during the final day of its meet at Missouri. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana's Ella Segura, Madison Bailey, Juliana Courville and Isabelle Russell posted a time of 11 minutes, 39.22 seconds to finish second overall in the event to shatter the previous school-record (11:52.47) set in 2015 by Kelci Lyons, Kayla Thompson, Danielle Castaldi and Claire Hodges.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns earned a sweep in the men's and women's 200 meters, including claiming the top five spots in the men's event. Camren Hardy clocked the fifth-fastest time in school history (21.14) to claim first-place honors for the Ragin' Cajuns with Mark Daley (21.21), Mekhi Boutte (21.446), Caemon Scott (21.447) and Zakry Munro (21.60) rounding out the top five.
 
Tijuanique Morton paced four sprinters among the top six in the women's 200 meters with a time of 24.43. Quincy Simon (24.76) was third overall, Amairi Ashford (25.14) fifth and Hannah Boullion (25.28) sixth.
 
Broderick Davis posted Louisiana's first-place finish in field events after claiming the men's long jump (23-9 ½). Nelvin Appiah (2,995 points) and Chase Lathrop (2,973) were third and fourth overall after the first day of the men's heptathlon with Andrea Monroy (3,310) and Bethany Casey (2,810) 11th and 18th overall in the women's pentathlon.
 
MCNEESE INDOOR II
Crowell posted a personal-best time of 9:57.23 to claim first-place honors for Louisiana in the 3,000 meters, Kenzie Touchet claimed first place (1:40.77) in the women's 600 meters, and Jakyra Edwards earned top honors in both the 55 (7.33) and 200 meters (25.50).
 
Kayla Meyers finished first in the 55-meter hurdles (9.06) while Rachel Kerr earned top honors in the women's pole vault (11-1 Âľ) for Louisiana.
 
Joshua Quintana (1:54.02), Reed Boudreaux (1:56.11) and Darius Charles (2:01.00) posted a 1-2-3 finish in the men's 800 meters and Federico Bovo claimed top honors in the long jump (23-9 ½).
