Ragin' Cajuns, Mountaineers meet in Boone for fourth time in last five contests
BOONE, N.C. – Coming off a thrilling 59-56 win at South Alabama last weekend, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team returns to action on Thursday when it visits App State in a Sun Belt Conference battle at the Holmes Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. The game will be available on ESPN+, with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app. Live results will be available at CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.
Louisiana (5-15, 3-5 SBC) used a long-range arsenal in its win over South Alabama, burying a season-high 15 3-pointers in a school-record 42 attempts. Jaxon Olvera's two 3-pointers in the final minute proved to be the difference for the Ragin' Cajuns, including his go-ahead shot with 2.1 seconds remaining.
Dorian Finister (13.8 ppg.) and Olvera (11.7) are the regulars in the lineup averaging in double figures for the Ragin' Cajuns, with Finister pulling down a team-best 5.0 rebounds per contest.
App State (11-9, 4-4 SBC) is led by the trio of Kasen Jennings (14.8 ppg.), Alonzo Dodd (13.6) and Luke Wilson (10.6). The Mountaineers split in their SBC games last week at home, earning an 80-65 win over James Madison before dropping a 75-73 contest to Old Dominion.
Louisiana leads the all-time series, 11-3, and is 6-2 overall against App State at the Holmes Center. The Ragin' Cajuns have won seven of the last 10 meetings in the series, including a 68-62 win in last year's contest at the Cajundome.
